All Hallow's Eve

Happy Halloween everybody... maybe you got tricks, or maybe you got treats. By the way, does anyone know what happened to all the other people who are members of this thing? Guess they've all gone away. I took this picture up in Bothell, but it looks pretty creepy... (which is, I guess, appropriate for Bothell.)

my buddy's website...

One of my friends just recently launched a website he's been working on. I guess its about posting pictures from anywhere with your phone to any website you embed the player. As such:

It posts pictures right away, works quite nicely. I'd say it's still in beta though, but still interesting and fits nicely with all those social networking sites. If anyone would like to sign up and try it out here's the website.

It's time again to post one of magnificent poems to this exalted site, much lie a dutch elm tree spreading its delicious seeds... so here goes. This one is about an alien abduction, which is of course total bullshit but interesting to write about:

They came from above

A lone road no light but headlight,
Driving drifting into the night
Sheltered by pines and mountain heights
Alone with time

Riding gliding as only four wheels allow
Tank is full of the old dead of earth
Nowhere to be and no one to see
On Mr. Kerouac’s road again…

DAWN
DAWN
DAWN

Blinding light spinning bright
Silence is deafening
A disc,
The DISC, spins up high

Lifted floating weightless
Prone in the sky
A body in motion stays in motion
Goodnight light.

Naked nude defenseless
Whiteness dazzling overwhelming
A table never felt so soft

Men monsters beings of dream
Grey brown or white
Who can say?

Dangling machine,
Brother of octopus descends un-tethered…

It stabs
It burns
It flays

My flesh!
My heart!
My soul!
Goodnight light.

A lone road no light but headlight,
Driving drifting into the night
Sheltered by pines and mountain heights
Alone with time

Likewise

So I've officially started grad school, and I thought I'd post a word or two about it. Here is the homepage for the program. It's called "information management" and it's meant to be a more general attempt at learning how to integrate and streamline a business' information systems, which usually include but aren't limited to IT.

This is all taking place on the UW campus, which is really a nice setting, especially after going to SCCC (which comes across more like a high school). The school apparently has something like 40,000 students, which rivals the population of my hometown.

So far I've gotten a chance to talk to nearly everyone in my program (there are only about 35 new students a year) and there's some interesting demographics. Over half of them are from out of the country, and class is split 50/50 by gender. Some pretty interesting people from all over.

My classes for the firs quarter are pretty diverse (and, I would add, expensive). They range from the human aspects of info mgmt, system design, and information security. We'll see how they go.
